She listened as Crio spoke up to the Admiral and from what he said, things didn't look to good. They would need a large amount of fire power to combat those who attacked. She lowered her head a little to relax her neck and shoulders, to lightly meditate, to relax her mind and prepare for what is to come
The feeling of a pair of hands on both her shoulders came to her attention and she looked up to see Crio and Brexen flanking her. She listened to what Crio had to say about being careful and not biting off more then she could chew. She gave Crio, and Brexen, an affectionate smile "I promise to be careful, Crio. I know you have been a wonderful friend through out the years and I am thankful for that. I am not planning to go out and get myself killed. You will see me again." She pondered the thought of whether or not it would go beyond friendship with her and Crio, not aware she was broadcasting telepathically. Without much thought to it, she brushed that idea to the back of her mind.

About a year ago, Starfleet R&D got a hold of some protoculture. With what we found out about it's properties and destructive nature, we had built around a black project. General Order 217 was issued by me which states, No ship traffic will be permitted around Dry Dock 305 in orbit at Cestus III. When we return to SB 140, every ship will be refitted to it's new tactical situation. That will be a start, but not the cure. We might not be able to crack that nut, but hell to navy beans we'll put a dent in it.

He nods toward Vanessa as she gives the information about that drydock, and takes it in.
"With any luck, that particular drydock survived the battle. I look forward to being able to take a look at it, firsthand."
He slowly releases Kestra's arm.
"I think there's a Klingon proverb that says something about 'revenge being a dish that is best served cold.' With that said, I think it's time we put the chill on the Tholians and any allies that they may have in this new conflict."
He looks again to Kestra as she spoke up about being a good friend, and not getting herself killed, and then seeing her again.
"Yes, you have been a very, very dear friend over the years. One that I don't ever want to lose. Besides, you know I'll hold you to that, Kes... I always have."
A slight chuckle comes up, remembering the last time both he and Brexen had said that to her, for different reasons and circumstances.

"Captain's personal log, supplemental:
Columbia is within arm's reach of Starbase 140. Our estimated ETA is about an hour. Our return will be joyous in the sense that we have completed our first mission successfully, with the rescue of a very good friend Admiral Vanessa Lucifel as well as her ship and crew.
I find myself greatly concerned about the new weapons being employed by the Tholians. This... "protoculture" substance has proven itself to be extremely powerful. I cannot help but wonder how many others have control of this substance, other than the Tholians. I'm worried about what we may find out as our investigation continues. I can't shake the feeling, though, that there's a 'puppet-master' working behind the scenes, pulling the strings of what we see taking place. Ultimately, we will need to find whoever this is, and put a stop to their activities.
Ensign Mendez has informed me that she has put together a scientific briefing on this new weapon, which I am very interested in. To make sure everyone is up to speed, I have invited Admirals Lucifel and Gunn, as well as Captains Gomez and Suder to join myself and Columbia's senior staff for this briefing, once we dock at the starbase. Hopefully, we can come up with ideas to deal with this new threat...
Computer, end log entry..."
