She listens carefully to Admiral Gunns report.
We will be at Starbase 140 in about 5 days. I will talk to Captain Morgan, and Commander Drek about our situation. As far as the Romulan situation, the Crusader was sent to the Denias System. Is their any reports from them of yet? According to Starfleet Intelligence there has been several reports of unusual sightings of Romulan ships. I was thinking possibly Juraan was running some secret operations, but if it turns out there is a Romulan connection, or worries may have only began.

Admial we haven't had word from the Crusader since she left on here mission in the Denias System. As for Juraan...I not too his secret mission isn't something to do with the attack.
In middle of his talk Ensign Wilson in.
Sir you are needed in the OR..Doctor Hawass is running into a problem with the Anderson boy.
Gunn nods and turns back to the screem.
I'm sorry Admiral...But I need in the OR. I will call back in later this day...

(Back Post)
Crio listened to Gunn's response.
"Sir, Columbia and her resources are at your service. I'll have a word with my science officer as well and ask her to go over the data, along with her teams, and see about devising a method of defense against that. I do know that when the Hampton was destroyed, the beam that hit them tore straight through our dorsal shields as if they weren't even in place. How we avoided a direct hit to the hull remains to be seen, but that was a very close weapons pass.
I look forward to comparing notes with your science teams when we get back, sir."
-----------
He would wait for Vanessa to add more before Gunn's image faded from the screen.
"Basically, we have a very big problem... With respect, why would the Romulans be involved behind the scenes? I know they typically wait for the other players to show their cards before they commit to anything... However, I do know that the Remans are the exact opposite, and are more like the Klingons, in terms of jumping right into the fray with little regard to strategic planning.
What little I do know about the Zentradi, is that they can instigate a situation much like what we saw back at the starbase... It is possible they may be at work with this as well..."
He would press his com badge, thinking of a way for an apparently eager officer to shine.
"Ijoula to Ensign Mendez. I would like you and your teams to go over the sensor logs from the battle back at the starbase, specifically the new weapon we observed the Tholians using. I'm interested in ways to defend against this weapon and an appropriate counter to the effects of said weapon. Also, see if there's any way we can modify our weapons to be able to cut through their new hull armor. I would like options on the table by the time we return to Starbase 140."

She set her milk aside and listened in on the reports the Admiral's were passing back and forth. Since the destruction of her ship, and her stay the Columbia's sickbay, she had missed quite a bit. She didn't even know the name of the attackers that had destroyed her ship. There was a report that there some ships on long range sensors but the attack had begun quickly and her ship was destroyed in space dock, not even getting a chance to defend herself and fight back
"Zentrati" She muttered to herself, not too familiar with the race or it's weapins, and now from the sound of it, the Romulans could be entering the fray
She looked toward Captain Ijoula as he contacted his bridge then back to Vanessa to see what she would tell them, she and Captain Ijoula, next

Listening to the Admiral, she was dismayed about the report about the Crusader. But after hearin Crio's talk of data on the attack was eager to review it. Then she realizes that Captain Suder was oblivious to the Zentradi's weapons.
OK Maxx. I see you are needed. I'll see you in a few days. Lucifel out. Captain Ijoula, I definitely want to see those reports.
She the looks to Captain Suder, and pauses.
I'm sure you heard about the Shockave incident 3 years ago. But what your not aware of is that they use a technology that counters our own. A substance called Protoculture. We found out it's a Protien that has properties Nitro Glycerin....but on a molecular scale. 1 micron of protoculture has enough energy to take out the saucer section of this ship. It reacts when introduced to another source of energy. Protoculture reacts to other amino acids to create life. To nutrients it can make powerful bacterias and serums. But add it to a Matter/Anti-matter reaction, and the effects can be devastating. Only a select few officers, and starship captains know this. My husband has been working on a Black project to make a Starship invulnerable to this super reaction that could devastate any warp reaction.

The Briefing room door opens as Rosaria enters with a Padd with all the Data on the attack at SB 140. She walks over to the Captain and acknowledges Vanessa, and Kestra.
Here is those reports you requested sir.
Hearing the Captains reply she does an about face, and exits to the Bridge.

Crio's eyes widened greatly at what Vanessa told him. 'A weapon that can destroy anything powered by a matter/antimatter reactor in one shot?!?' he thought to himself.
He thought about what they saw back at the starbase, and how the Hampton's shields were at full strength, until they were hit, and then it appeared that the ship outright imploded on itself, then exploded from what the weapon did. Now it made sense. Plus the damage to the starbase's reactors left him greatly worried, as they had sustained a direct hit.
His train of thought was interrupted as the doors opened, and Mendez brought the data to him.
"Thank you, ensign. Carry on."
He paused for a moment, in deep thought.
"It makes sense now... Computer, access external sensor logs."
He picks up a PADD and enters the search data, and after a few moments, the larger viewer in the briefing room lights up, showing the external view of Columbia's saucer, as she flew alongside the Hampton, with Columbia's phasers firing to an unseen assailant to starboard. Then the playback began, showing the maneuvers made, as the immense beam penetrated Columbia's dorsal shields, somehow missed a direct hit to the hull, and struck the Hampton on her starboard side. A small amount of stray energy from the beam hit near Columbia's primary dorsal phaser array, but didn't cause significant damage, thankfully.
Hampton's shields flared brightly as they tried to absorb the hit, and then after a few moments, she started to implode in on herself, then exploded in a brilliant fireball, with debris hitting Columbia's port shields full-force, knocking Columbia off her flight path for a moment before it was corrected, and then came around to bear on the Tholian battlecruiser from behind as it approached weapons range with the starbase.

She nodded, as she was familiar with the shock wave incident that had destroyed many ships and lives. She had been on one of the ships that came in with the rescue effort and see was witness to the carnage and devastation
She listened contently as the Admiral spoke of Protoculture and what is was and what it could do. By the time she spoke of how it could destroy the saucer section of the Columbia, she had her mouth open in shock. "Sounds pretty similar to the Genesis project but on a far more destructive scale." She thought for a moment "More like the Omega Particle. This is some very dangerous weaponry we are dealing with. It is of no wonder my ship was destroyed so easily and quickly. I am hoping that your husband is successful in determining how to stop this weapon."
She glanced at Ijoula, sure in the fact that he would agree. She saw that Crio was deep in thought as one of his officers, an Ensign, brought him the report he asked for

He nodded toward Kestra, and his eyes narrowed at the mention of Omega. He had read Janeway's report about Omega, along with the knowledge that the Borg call it their "Holy Grail".
"Admiral, from this log, we were engaging a heavily armored Tholian battlecruiser... Is that a protoculture-based weapon, by its effects?" He had a hard time saying protoculture.
He sits back down with them.

She paused as she set her cup down, and sighed.
I'm afraid so. what hit us went right through our shields, and cause a cascading effect that transformed our warp plasma to Gluons. If it wasn't for the quick think of my Chief engineer, we would of suffered the same fate of the Hampton. He gave his life....to save us all.

She looked to Ijoula as he posed a question to the Admiral and from the Admiral's response, her eyes widened and she looked quite shocked, and perhaps a little pale, remembering the destruction of her own ship
She hung her head a moment to collect herself and send a silent prayer for the lost Engineer. She glanced back to the Admiral, a little color back in her cheeks "My condolances for the loss of your Engineer, Admiral. I am sure he died protecting the ship and will not be forgotten."

As he heard the response about losing a chief engineer, he too bowed his head briefly in a silent prayer, before looking back up at them. The image of Brexen looked like she was in shock, and had a few tears streaming down, afraid of what such a potent weapon could do.
"Vanessa, I'm sorry for your loss there... I can only hope that no further lives are lost..." he trails off as a memory hits him, from what happened to Challenger's crew. Aghast, he presses his com badge.
"Ijoula to Sick Bay. Doctor, as soon as you have an opportunity to do so, I need for you to send that data on what caused the deaths of some of the Challenger's crew over to the Federation's Sick Bay, along with all treatment options." His tone had urgency in it.

She nods somewhat somber.
When I found out Lt Ashmore was available I wasted no time in acquiring him on the Federation. His service record on the uSS Voyager was impeccable. Strange part, I thought he was being held back, and was going to promote him to Commander. I will not let his death be hollow, nor will I forget the thousands that have dies at the hands of this dastardly attack.
First thing first. Lets mend the Federation, and get the Columbia back in the fight. Captain Suder, If your up to it, I want to tap you for a new assignment. You and what remaining crew will have a shot at some revenge. It's time to get this part of the Galaxy Back!

Mentally, she glanced over toward Brexen and saw that she too was visably shaken with the news of the Engineer's death. She reached out to hug and comfort Brexen, telepathically, all the while listening to the Admiral as she spoke of not letting her engineer's death not be in vain. She even considered promoting him. Too bad he would not be there to recieve it
She turned to the admiral, her eyes lighting up at the prospect of a new assignment "Yes, I am quite up to it, Admiral. Normally, I am not into the revenge angle but the Tholians and the Zentrati will regret attacking, and destroying, my ship and over half of the Federation. I am weary of sitting around and not doing anything" She thought for a moment then turned to Crio with a smile "Not that I do not enoy your company, Captain Ijoula and Brexen too."

He listens intently to what is said.
"With respect, many on my crew, including my first officer, have expressed a keen interest to bring the fight back to the Tholians. However, in practical terms, I am concerned about having an effective means to combat them successfully. I hope the brass and science teams back at the starbase have some progress in that
We will also need to be re-armed. We have about a hundred and fifty of my engineer's 'homemade' photon torpedoes for heavy weapons at the moment.
I have to tell you, that whatever the Tholians are employing on their hulls now, our best shot had as much effect as trying to drill through neutronium with a hand phaser on maximum.
Before we can have a hope of effectively fighting these new ships, we need to devise new weapons and new defense strategies. Some extra armor wouldn't hurt, either... If we go into the fray, I want to be as fully prepared as we possibly can be, and have a very good chance of coming back in one piece."
He looks toward Kestra, and reaches out to gently grasp her shoulder. The telepathic image of Brexen would be on Kestra's other side, doing the same thing, for comfort to her, despite being shaken by the loss of a good engineer on a comrade's ship, noticeable by some tears streaming down her cheeks.
"Kes... If you want to proceed on this, I won't blame you at all, considering what happened to the Challenger. Promise me, though, that you'll be careful while you get your revenge... and that you don't 'bite off more than you can chew' as humans put it."
