Deragon sputters to a dead stop as he pauses for 15 seconds. It seemed more like an hour to him as he remembered his wife. How much he missed her, and how much he truly love her.
No word, as of yet. But I'm optimistic for some good news. Hell if we all don't need to hear some.

Gjin then entered the briefing room to everyones surprise with a PADD in his hand. Excuse me Admiral, but I have news from Starbase 140 marked urgent to bring to your attention.

Somewhat taken by Gjin's entrance looks to him. What is it?

Somewhat apprehensive he reads from the PADD. From Starfleet Command. On Stardate 66954.95 Rear Admiral Deragon Lucifel is promoted to the rank of Vice Admiral. Starfleet would also like to inform you they have found survivors from the USS Federation. Report are that your wife Admiral Vanessa Lucifel is alive. More to come on this subject when it is confirmed.

Somewhat stunned, yet surprised at hearing his wife is alive, he smiles. The first time in a long time. Thank you Warrant Officer Falor. Thank you so much. Seems I'm kind of out of uniform.

He felt, as well as saw, the stunned reaction from the Admiral at the question about the welfare of his wife. He couldn't help but sympathize with him. He was pretty sure he would feel the same way if in the same situation
A moment later, Warrant Officer Gjinn entered the room. He raised a brow in inquiry as he told the Admiral he had information for him, urgent from Star Fleet and SB 140
When Falor finished, he had a smile on his face "Congratulations on your promotion, Vice Admiral and it is wonderful news that your wife is indeed alive."

I rub my hand across my forehead in disbelief. Not being able to take it anymore...
"SIR, with all due respect the Avenger is still in the midst of refit and now se's being thrown back into war!?" There's no way she's ready! And now you want me to just drop her and come aboard the Defiant?!

He was practically blind-sided by Jon's outburst and frustration but he recovered. Turning toward the Engineer, he would calmly tell him "Lt, we are not being sent to the front lines. Our next mission is to be routine patrolling, at least until we are able to get warp capable and other key systems back operational again. After that, Only Star Fleet knows"

Shelar sat in virtual silence, but was relieved that the Admiral was indeed safe. Lt Reul's outburst was understandable to her. Knowing how humans, especially engineers seem to become attached to their ships.
Lieutenant, I assure you this order comes with warrant. Since the attack the Fourteenth fleet has been stretched far, and thin. Several ships, including ourselves are the only ships able to move at all. We must do our part, for as you know Cestus IV will soon be in it's furthest orbit, and the Marine will be cut off from Starbase 140.

Deragon whom is in better spirits, listen to Jon's concern, and as Shelar replied, he help up his left hand.
December 7th, 1941. Does that sound familar Mr Ruel? Thousands died, and more were wounded. The United States Pacific fleet, was decimated. But rather then let sunk ships lay where they were, the raised a good number of them. Re-crewed them, and some even participated in sinking the ships that sunk them. Do you relaize the importance of what happened here Mr Ruel? Because right now, we were sunk, but we can float. And we can see, and we can fight. Sure we can't do it well, but the fact is we can fight. Your efforts alone, one man's effort, helped a small frigate, take out a Tholian Battlecruiser. Did you stutter, and hesitate Mr Ruel, or did you choose to fight? Because, the Avenger, will choose to FIGHT!

I sit back in my chair in total silence thinking about the last mission.
With all due respects sir, I pulled that solution out of my you know where. My efforts may have saved us but it also almost crippled the ship beyond hope. When you signed me on the Avenger, she was already in pretty bad shape and the Tholians didn't help matters any.
But, Since then I've managed to keep her together... I breathe a deep sigh... and will continue to do so. HOWEVER, I want my engineering team...ALL of them. And no more of the bridge personnel doing anything engineering related without my consent or my team doing it.
Now with that being said....when do you want to launch?

Smirking a bit he looks to Cai. Cai, you, and Gjin will escort the Lt Team to the Runabout Hudson. The coordinates have been fed in the ship computer. Upon arriving at Bellatrix make contact with the Ferengi vessel Vox, a Damon Jerrix should have all the equipment you need. By the way, the price is set, and has been transfered, so no haggling. The sooner you leave, the sooner we get these warp engines running. Ok dismissed.

I glance at the Vice Admiral, seeing the smirk. I stand up from my chair and walk over to the corner of the room and tap my badge.
"Reul to Avenger, patch me through to Miria please"

As she was reading the supplies for the trip to Bellatrix she hears Jon voice, and taps her combadge. Yes Lietenaunt. She chirps with her new spunky attitude.

Hearing her spunky voice coming from the com badge I shake my head and smile. I turn and look over to the vice admiral...
"Download the files from my office to Engineering aboard the Avenger. Then contact Parkerson and the rest of the engineering staff and tell them I want that ship in operational status by the end of the week according to the specs that you downloaded."
"Oh and remember a while back when you first came on board, you gave me the PADD with your recommendations? Download those as well to be included with the specs."
"Then grab your gear and meet me at the runabout Hudson. We're going on a trip."
I then turn my back away from the Vice Admiral and whisper into the com badge "And see what you can do to bring along some uhmmmm refreshments if you get my meaning. This is going to be a long trip"
