"Computer, begin Captain's log, stardate 66274.1:
I have been briefed by the last inspection teams on the status of my new command, and am looking forward to my upcoming tour.
My mission orders have not come in yet, so I'm eagerly looking forward to meeting my crew as they report in.
I can only hope we prove ourselves to be as worthy as the last crew of a starship named Columbia...

"Captain's log, stardate 66413.5:
One of the worst ways imaginable to begin a mission has befallen us. No sooner had we begun to pull out of drydock, did we come under heavy attack by Tholians.
What do they want with this sector and the shipyards? What prompted them to issue an unprovoked attack that has already resulted in the destruction of the starship Challenger? And even more puzzling is why are they employing weapons of a race known as the Zentradi?
I hope we survive this battle and are able to find the answers to these questions.
At this point, the Tholians are jamming the whole system, and we are unable to raise Starbase 140. If we're going to survive this engagement, we need to be able communicate and regroup our forces...

"Captain's log, stardate 66550.4:
The battle to repel the Tholians from Starbase 140 was successful. However, the starbase itself had suffered extensive reactor core damage during the battle. I hope they survived.
Columbia was ordered to track down the starship Federation and assist them as needed. It is believed they may have been destroyed, with all hands... However, we will find out soon enough.
We're working to get the ship repaired and re-armed before we reach them, just in case this turns out to be a trap.
Quite frankly, I hope that our colleagues survived and are well...

"Captain's log, stardate 66617.7:
It's been a week since our unusual launch and the attack on Starbase 140. We've been looking for Admiral Lucifel's ship, but so far have not heard anything from them. It is presumed that they were attacked, and possibly destroyed by the same fleet that attacked Starbase 140.
Despite the bumpy start to our mission, Columbia's crew has come together during this crisis in the best traditions of Starfleet. To add to that, we now have been re-armed with a supply of over a hundred modified torpedoes, and our main phasers are back up. As a result of the crew's hard work, I intend to put them all in for commendations.
While most of our repairs are also complete from the battle to protect Starbase 140, we still are trying to track down a few gremlins in our long-range sensors. Either we are getting mis-information as a result of the sensors being out of alignment, or we're picking up something else... Whatever it is, I've decided to keep the ship at Yellow Alert until we can get more information...

"Captain's log, supplemental:
Having been informed of the condition of our sister ship, I have made up my mind to see what Columbia's engines can do, by going to maximum sustainable warp speed. I know that my chief engineer might not be happy about that, but it's either that, or risk finding only debris where the admiral's ship is...

"Captain's Log, stardate 69327.3:
Columbia's combat refit is nearly complete, and we're waiting for our orders on where we're going. Fleet Admiral Yates informs me that we're likely to be testing these new upgrades. We're still waiting on our specific orders...

"Captain's log, supplemental:
It's been three hours since I briefed my senior officers on our mission plans. Lieutenants Moragami and Mendez have succeeded at bringing the new Breen impulse engine cooling manifolds online, and we're ready to meet up with the task force just outside of Sector Four-Four-One. We still haven't received any word from Captain Grayson since the initial intelligence burst, so I'm eager to find out what new information they have on the situation...
