"Security log, stardate..... ((I'll find out later))
My transfer to Starbase 140 has not been very smooth. I know that both Admirals Vanessa Lucifel and Gunn had specifically asked for me here, and I'm beginning to know why..
There is a human expression, to the effect of finding oneself in the wrong place at the wrong time... It appears I have done that, because no sooner did I report in, than I was briefed on a major crisis that will require me to investigate heavily...
On the Aurora, I was given considerable freedom to handle investigations as I saw fit, and I became very comfortable with that. Despite initial issues with the marines onboard, I finally was able to get them off my back.
However, this starbase... the marines are quite rampant, in particular one Colonel Marone... So far, he appears to be any or all of the following: a 'know-it-all', a pain in my side, a Ferengi sympathizer, a 'ladies man', cocky, arrogant, egotistical, and above all, a danger to my methods of investigation. After only two encounters with him, I can tell already that I cannot trust him with anything, especially with knowledge of my 'special talents'.
I have also determined that the Ferengi barkeeper is one that I cannot trust as far as I can throw him. If he ever finds out about my abilities, then he could easily create bigger problems for me, although it could be interesting to watch him squirm, wondering where I am...
I have made some headway in the investigation. The Romulan ambassador had last been seen in the Ferengi's bar, and may have heard an exchange between the Ferengi and two hooded figures that he met with. I'm beginning to wonder if they abducted her in part because of her overhearing something of great value to us...
I've also found a potential issue with having Naussicans and Orions onboard the starbase.. Wherever either of them go, trouble follows them like a faithful pet...
Computer, end log entry..."
