Yuletide : The Mission Continues
By Ensign Ariel Wrenn
With the Holidays upon us, the Crusader played out it's last SIM of the year on December 17th. But surely, is this how we ending the year with no live SIM? The Federation is still crewing, and with a start up date of January 11th, it don't look good. In the mean time, Captain Greene, and Commodore Gunn came up with the GF first joint Board SIM named Yuletide.
Some of the key characters. (l-r) Capt Greene, Commodore Gunn, LtJG Von Merr, and Frankie.
Yuletide was to continue where the Crusader left off, and from what I'm reading, it's pretty good. Trust issues between commanders, possible spies, as well as a full blown brawl in the Galaxy Bar & Grill. Nonetheless there are many that want the Crusader to continue it's story, after all, the information it found will be incorporated into the Federations first mission. Also what affects the Crusader, affects the fleet in whole at this point. Starbase 140 is the hub of all action, and the Victoria, Striker, Federation, and mostly the Crusader feeds off it. This gives us all a common goal, and a great situation to feed off for stories.
As stated in the first GF Weekly, this fleet will not be left in the dark, that's why all characters are welcome to participate. The turnout has been better than expected, and the story has evolved. From the moment Captain Greene walked in, and had a brief fight with a Nausicaan, the others have picked up. Must notable Commodore Gunn, and Lt JG Von Merr. The Action was fast and furious on December 22nd filled with Romulans, Klingons, Yridians, and of course Nausicaans. But it's not over yet, so if you get a chance check out the Yuletide Thread on Starbase 140.
A few moments with...
Lt Juliette James
By Fleet Admiral Vanessa Ann Lucifel
I have been simming since January 29, 2005. Over this time I've met some excellent simmers, most of which are in the GF. One such simmer I met recently this year, and I consider her among the masters at what she does. Her style is unique, and refreshing, as well as keeping a story line fresh. I must admit, when I met Juliette I thought she was very fascinating. In the short time we simmed together, along with Stephanie Morgan, we have became close friends. I had to have her for our very first interview.
Cadet V Yates [8:34 P.M.]: I haven't known you long, but you have apparently a history in Star Trek SIM. What caught your eye about the GF?
Juliette James [8:35 P.M.]: One thing that caught my eye was reviewing the storyline of the fleet itself. I haven't really seen a fleet out there that spans different eras of Trek history. I've seen temporal fleets, but never one that actually had ships in different eras without using temporal mechanics.
Cadet V Yates [8:37 P.M.]: Now after doing your first month on the Crusader, have you any added opinions?
Juliette James [8:39 P.M.]: Well, I believe our storyline is very different than any I've ever partaken in before. We're dealing with a theme not many try, Orions. As well, I've never seen an Orion in Starfleet much less as a CO. I believe with Captain Greene as our CO, we will go much farther than many SIMs in originality. There's so much, like in the last storyline, to explore and embellish on. There's endless possibilities which makes it so much more fun.
Cadet V Yates [8:40 P.M.]: You seem like you love a good mystery. Is that part of the Juliette James we see?
Juliette James [8:42 P.M.]: Actually, yes. Juliette James at her very core is curious by the unknown and even if it's not logical, she will pursue a matter to its core trying to explain it. This is as well part of her hobby. She can't take "because it is" as an answer. She must go in and look at research, test things for herself, find clues, and proof. If the Crusader were involved in some sort of mystery or paradox, you better bet Juliette will be there dissecting the situation to the last molecule.
Cadet V Yates [8:43 P.M.]: Captain Greene got the Perfect OPS officer then. Recently your were named the Second Officer, will this go to her head?
Juliette James [8:46 P.M.]: I doubt it. She is very humble in most ways. She doesn't believe in kissing butt, but at the same time she doesn't see why she shouldn't perform to the best of her potential. As well, she knows that ranks can be taken away if one becomes too "uppity" and tries to oppress the lower ranking officers.
Cadet V Yates [8:47 P.M.]: OK last question, What made you a Trekkie?
Juliette James [8:49 P.M.]: Oh goodness. I would say back when the pilot episode for TNG aired back in the late 80's. I found the complexity of the issues presented on Star Trek to be fascinating. The storylines make you think, they also bring you away
My Christmas Gift
By Fleet Admiral Vanessa Lucifel
All I ask for is a tall ship, and a star to sail her by. All fine for the Great Captain James T Kirk, but my dream is far different. Sure, name a Trekker that wouldn't like commanding a federation starship. But my dreams were a bit different form the course I took. As LtCdr Lucifel, I went as high as I could go, even I wasn't sure I was ready for a command of my own. Some people thought different, not that I blame them to, actually I was quite flattered. Yet it wasn't my own command, and tell you the truth, I still didn't think I was ready. So this Christmas I find myself counting down the moments until I take command of that tall ship.
Sure I had the option to take command as the first Starship, but I believed Candela had a better chance. There are differences between her and I, and I believe most of you see these differences, I know I do. I was told that the Federation was like my Christmas gift. That would be further from the truth, as Christmas came early for me. I remembered when the talk of actually forming my own fleet began, and I said I would need lots of help. Well the Fleet wasn't the gift as well. My gift was my friends, my supporters, the men and women of the GF.
You all gave me something that I can never return, you gave me your hearts. From the moment Commander Wilson showed me the forum it was like seeing a brand new car in the driveway. Truth be, until then I was thinking maybe in 2007, but I believed you all wanted this. Admiral Ashley Morgan played alot into the formation of the fleet. Her belief in me inspired me to be creative, and gave me more courage to attempt an early start with the Crusader. If I had my way, our first SIM would of been January 7, 2007 but with a great crew, and great simmers behind them, we got a big head start in November.
My Christmas Present? A Trek enthusiast by the name of Admiral Crio Ijoula. He might not know this but he gave me the idea of the Story line in this era. His constant Trivia sessions gave birth to Starbase 140, The Crusader, and the pirates. Then there is Commodore Maxx Gunn who kept things fresh. Bashful about his command abilities, and his simming prowess, he doesn't realize how much of the GF he helped created. Rear Admiral Deragon Lucifel, my dear sweet husband, pestered me to death to just do it! He played alot into this fleet, and actually got me honestly thinking I could get members, and make a success from an idea. Finally, Rear Admiral Kempec, my honest and true cheer leader. He never simmed before I placed a Help Wanted posting in Yahoo 360. Eager, and always a trusting companion on my buddy list, and someone that I could not do without in the fleet,
Then there is you, the members of the GF, or the Guest reading this. If you are reading this you are my best Christmas gift. The GF just started 1 month 20 days ago, with no newsletter, no website, just a board, and 5 members. But now we have a newsletter, and you probably found it through the webpage. Sure, it's not the best webpage, and we have no links from the forum, but it will come in time. There might be changes down the line, perhaps the mission will change as far as ships, and eras, or maybe we won't make it, but from what I've seen this is least likely. The feedback has been excellent, and the SIM's have been very rewarding to say the least. So my Christmas Present? All I ask for is for all of us to have some fun.

Star Date?
What is today Stardate? I have no idea, although I tried to figure it out. There are a number of ways to figure it out, all equally sound, yet none canon, because star dates are not exactly precisely laid out, So what is today's star date? the real question is how do we figure it out. So in those endeavor I went looking for a Star Date calculator. To keep things simple, an earth year will be a Star date year. The site I found is the JavaScript Star Date Converter. It's the simplest to use, and gives a quick answer, until I can get us a usable Star Date clock on the site.

WE NEED KLINGONS!
The Generation Fleet will be sporting a Klingon Fleet, as of now, we have none. If you know of anyone that's up to the challenge to command a Klingon ship, have them stop by. We take Klingons from all eras, so if they want to Battle the Federation, or seek past glory in the Cardassian, or Dominion war, or join our current struggle.
