Agreed. she would reply as everyone took their seats. There was a moment of pause and then she began.
It seems that every time we get involved with the mystery of the Zentradi, and their weapon the other shoe drops. In recent days we've have stumbled on to a wealth of information but at a hefty cost. The USS Japan was found with all hands lost, the USS Concorde was rescued, but her crew of 80 are missing. The war with the Remans has taken a turn for the better as Klingon, and Federation forces have squeezed them out of the Archanis Sector, yet 37,000 Klingon, and Federation men and women are dead and 19 ships destroyed. Meanwhile the Tholians exposed their Achilles heel early, and we made in roads to destroying their primary weapon, but intelligence says they a building more, and they a stronger so we may not be able to exploit their weakness. Finally we have the dilithium on Cestus IV which the Tholians have been accessing for months. Despite or efforts, they would risk certain death on Cestus IV for the dilithium rather then obtain it from other means...question is...why?
These are the easy questions, because it gets more complicated I promise you. As you know the Founders are here as our guest. Without them the USS Federation would not be back in action as well as several other capital ships. None the less the Klingons have turned their backs on us. The Romulans has excommunicated their own Ambassador, and the Gorn are threatening to pull out of Cestus. So you see for the only reason this station is still here may turn this area of space into a powder keg.
What I need from you all is suggestions, and your thoughts on how we proceed from here. As of this moment the USS Columbia is speeding into the Briar Patch under armed, and possibly out classed. I am going on the assumption they will be successful because there is no room for failure. What I need is suggestion on how we proceed from here. I need all of your help, because you are my bravest, and most trusted commanders, and friends.
With that said first I want to touch on what we learned from the USS Crusader, and the USS Avenger.
She activates a view-screen as an image of the destruction of the SS Danville.
This is what we are up against. A weapon that seeks out Warp Plasma, and causes it to turn into Gluons. These Gluons expanded and engulf the ship, and if left unchecked can destroy the ship inside out. As we see in this image, the Reman ship is using a Romulan design, intelligence says it is Spectre class. It is highly elusive, and uses nuetrinos in space for propulsion making the need for impulse engines secondary, and meaning it has one of the best cloaking systems ever made.
This is more a Romulan then a Reman ship, but what makes it deadly is the weapon. The weapon in the wrong hands can have devastating effects. It was Captain Greene and her crew who used their brains on this enemy. The ejected the core making themselves invisible to their enemy. They turned the tables on their enemy and trapped them, unfortunately there are no survivors, but there is wonderful intelligence.
