Norelle took a seat next to the Science officer and gave him a pleasant smile. She hadn't been formally introduced yet felt it necessary.
Hello, my name is Norelle Parma I'm the Flight Con Officer.

Seeing everyone seated , she looks to Dorian who has a look of "Get it over with" on her face. She also notice a look of eagerness on the face of Rayna.
I've been told there is a Pool going on my ship. I hope you all know I do not tolerate gambling on my ship, no matter what the circumstances. This gambling is related to the rumor that I am pregnant. Well lets finally dispel all these rumors and speculation.
Yes I am pregnant, and according to Dr Maddox I am 5 months pregnant. Now before further rumor spread lets nip this right here and now.
Those of you who know me know I am carrying some unique nanites that date back some 1500 years ago. They were among the first of their kind, a separate community as you may say from a collective. Some sort of ecological mishap would force their collective to leave their plane. They stayed behind, and waited for centuries until I came along. Like their Borg cousins they strive to be a collective, but they lack the Borgs hunger for perfection. When they found me they needed me to be part of their collective. Without a new mind they were sure to perish. Over the next 6 years these nanites have learned about humanity, and individuality. They look to me as their world and will do anything to please me, and for some reason they believed I needed a child to be happy.
She pauses as a few of her senior staff chuckle.
In a few weeks I will be expecting, seems they are in a rush to have this child born. And if you have to ask, the Genetic father is Commander Drek. Now are there ANY more questions on this subject that need to be answered?
She stares down each of her senior staff as to dare them to say something stupid.

When she was finished and her gaze struck on him she would see for only a second a hint of anger or, distrust in his eyes at the mention of "Nanites" it passed just as quickly as it came replaced by a perfectly passive look only his eyes gave away this emotion he gave no inclination to speak. The look would appear either as that of a drone or a Vulcan who had been purged of all emotion depending on your prejudices. other than that he never moved a muscle.

Good with that out of the way, Commander Vatto informs me we are passing a Red Giant in sector 441. We are getting unusual readings of a Transwarp signature. As you all know, we are needed at Starbase 140, yet this is crying out we should investigate. Has any of our scans returned any information relevant?

[Tried to putthe image of a transwarp aperture here with no luck] The Borg maintained a series of six transwarp hubs throughout the galaxy, from which thousands of transwarp apertures could be accessed in all four quadrants. This allowed the Collective to deploy vessels nearly anywhere in the galaxy, giving them a decisive tactical advantage. In 2378, the crew of the USS Voyager put into action a plan to destroy the Borg's entire transwarp network, by destroying a series of the interspatial manifolds which supported the network's structure. Entering an aperture in a hub they discovered in the Delta Quadrant, the crew fired a series of transphasic torpedoes as they traveled through the conduit, destroying the manifolds and setting off a chain reaction which destroyed the hub and collapsed the network. Remaining ahead of the resultant shockwave, the Voyager crew were able to exit an aperture located less than a light year from Earth, moments before it collapsed. (VOY: "Endgame") When no one else responded raised his padd tapped a few keys as he spoke. " I am new here I have taken the liberty of Connecting the View screen to the Science Console So if you would please look atthe Screen." A picture of the red giant with a small black dot at the edge of the star the image is then magnified to show a picture of a transward Aperture. " We all know what this is and, that it is active. I am still studying the Readings for more information. We are definetly dealing with the Borg." Left it onn the Screen as he leaned back Got quiet.

Shi studies the display a bit before volunteering.
I know it has been 14 years but wouldn't it take the Borg several decades to rebuild a network of Transwarp hubs? And if they did, how did they build one here? We are some 10,000 light years from the nearest borg complex.

The Borg are somewhat resourceful as well. Chances are when the USS Voyager destroyed the Network some Borg may have been trapped here in the Alpha and Beta Quadrants. Perhaps they made their own collective and constructed this hub

The fact is it is there, and one of the Portals are active. Admiral the last thing we need now is to leave an active gate for the Borg to access the Alpha Quadrant. If they have adapted, they can be far more dangerous then they were 14 years ago.

I agree Admiral. I know we have the war to contend with, but if the Borg get a hold of that Zentradi weapon, we all could be in alcoves by next spring.

Looked around the table at those at the table they spoke of destroying the Hub there was nothing he would like better. No one should live the hell he does everyday. Seeing the faces of friends, comrades you worked with for years being killed or, worse tore apart to be assimilated. All the while it was your body your" hands", he was of th e few both hands were amputated, doing these things while your mind screamed out in horror hopefully they did not see this in his eyes. When he spoke his voice was again emotionless as if he were merely spouting off facts. " Might I suggest we let the vessel come through. unless they have changed they know we are here. It will take them a Few seconds to raise Shields. We could use that time to place a team on board to access the Computer. I already have access nodes Admiral. I know I am new here, I have as of yet earned your trust I would understand the need to risk others following my fate sir."

She listened to everyone else, before adding her thoughts.
"To destroy a transwarp hub, the Voyager crew utilized advanced weaponry that Admiral Janeway's future self brought back with her. Unless we have access to that same kind of weaponry, the best I can do is set our quantum torpedo warheads to an overloaded setting to make them pack nearly as much power as a tricobalt device. Plus, the probe data we've collected so far shows a heavy amount of radiation and gravimetric sheer in there. It will be a balancing act to keep the shields up if we go in, and even more difficult if we get into combat."
Solina had a keen fighting spirit to her, but she knew to be mindful of the limitations that they faced. That was a lesson that she had to learn the hard way from her father as he taught her human martial arts.
"However, I do have a few surprises should we have to face the Borg. One of them is a rifle weapon based on research conducted by Seven of Nine from Voyager, known as the Infinity Modulator, or I-Mod." She would enter a command on the control pad in front of her and it would be projected on one of the monitors. "Basically, it auto-remodulates its weapon frequency to a random setting after each discharge, making it impossible for the Borg to adapt their shields. I have since replicated a couple dozen of them for security personnel. I was working on modifying that concept for the Cosair's weapons when I transferred here, and I brought that data with me.
We also have the Hazard suit," she said, gesturing to her armored uniform, "which can protect the wearer from weapons discharge or other hazards that would otherwise be considered 'too hot to handle' for conventional away teams. The suits are equipped with medical and armor nanites that serve to protect the wearer. These suits proved invaluable during the Archanis mission."
She turns to their new science officer.
"Correct me if I'm wrong, but to deal with the hull stresses of transwarp flight, wouldn't a Borg vessel need its shields in place while in transwarp?"

She weighed each response, and know taht this could be more dangerous then anything.
Mr Serituk, mind you we could use this opportunity to find out more about the Borg, the fact is do we really have the time, or resources? If the Borg should somehow get a hold of the information on the Zentradi weapon, we may condemn the Alpha Quadrant into a Borg occupation.
She shakes her head in disagreement. I am truly sorry but we need to destroy that hub. True all they will do is build another, but the fact is as long as we aren't here when they arrive, that's alright with me. Mileke go over the data Mr Serituk collected, Parma bring us in closer so we can get a clear target on that hub. Mr Mitchen, and Pormea, I want engineering to work on possibly more defenses if we meet up with the Borg which could be a strog possibility. Karlassa, have the ship configured for Metphasic shielding, and readied for vector assault if it becomes necessary.
Dorian...you have the Conn...I'll be in sickbay with the Doctor.
Without calling dismiss, she and Lt Maddox exit the Briefing room as the other officers look somewhat stunned by her reply.
