I smile as she burps and then take a drink.
"Correct me if I'm wrong, because I've actually only heard about Trills, I've never actually met one, but when you receive a new symbiant, you take on the life memories of that symbiant as well as your own. If that's the case then all your past feelings go away as well right?"

She laughs some what jovially as she sets her Tankard down.
No, it's more of a balancing act in that the host's prior knowledge and memories continue to be part of the person. However, their personality needs to be focused and strong enough to assert itself, or the personalities of the previous hosts risk overwhelming the current host's personality. It's kind of confusing. Seems Jesmin has a somewhat strong personality. It will be sometime before I am fully under control. I know one thing, he has a knowledge of good beer.

As she finishes her statement about the knowledge of good beer, I finish taking a drink and smile. As I set my tankard down my back starts cramping. I shift my self into a different position seemingly moving closer to Miria. I pick my tankard back up and look into it.
"Sorry, every so often I have to move around. Seems I'm still a little battle damaged from the mission. "
Memories start hitting me of the weapons room aboard the Avenger, seeing the smoke and debris and remembering the feelings of death and.... I take a fast drink.
"Yeah I'll give you that. So your still the same Miria, only less focused" I wink at her

She smiles, and chuckles as she then takes another big gulp. For the most part...yes. Just a tad confused getting use to...Jesmin.
She then sets her tankard down, and her face with a little serious.
I was speaking to Hanson. He seemed concerned that you seem to be skiddish about going to the weapons bay.

I totally focus my attention to the inside of my tankard as I hear her comment, seeing the seriousness on her face in the corner of my eye.
"You almost died because I grabbed you and dragged you to help me. I could have done that work by myself, there was no reason for you to be there. I let my personal feelings get in the way of..."
Realizing what I was about to say I stop abruptly, place my tankard on the table, stand up and with my hand placed behind my back rubbing the pain, walk over to my window and stare at the view of the drydock.
"In the academy, during my training in engineering, we had a warp core breach simulation. unexpected. The instructor liked to keep us on our toes. There were 6 of us...myself, 2 of my friends, my roommate, and 2 cadets. I was in charge. Before the breach happened, I sent a cadet to do a typical impulse diagnostics. Something that was very easy to do, but I let her do it because...... "
"Suddenly the Alarm sounds, smoke starts bellowing from the warp core and the door starts shutting down. Procedures require you rush everyone out and push the button to shut the door. Well 1 of the cadets never made it though the door before it closed. She was reprogramming the conduit relay system when the breach went off. I closed the door, blocking off the warp core from engineering and sent everyone out to the corridor. We all got outside and I looked at the team. Everyone was accounted for except her. I trapped her in the chamber when i shut the door. We all figured she'd be ok because it was just a simulation...."
I shift position still staring out, take a deep breath and exhale
"For what seemed like forever, we all waited outside in the corridor until the computer decided it was ok to end the simulation. The doors opened and we went back inside, only for us to find the warp core door still closed with smoke still coming from underneath it. I ran and opened the door. The door opened, the smoke still bellowing from the warp core now filling the room and the cadet lying on the floor in front of the door dead. Her face all burnt up. The computer, during the warp core simulation actually overloaded and blew up, a piece of it hitting a actual warp conduit that we were using for testing plasma emissions for starhip travels, essentially filling the entire chamber with leaking plasma"
I close my eyes for a long moment and reopen them
"That cadet was my fiance.... We were to be married 1 month after that incident. I spent the remainder months in the academy going through counselors and the instructor telling me that it wasn't my fault. Finally coming to terms, I swore to myself that I would never let my personal feelings get in the way ever again and that I was going to do the risk jobs. NO ONE was ever going to die again because of me"
I finally turn and look straight at Miria
"I thought you were dead. When I came to in sickbay I didn't know what happened to you. So am I skiddish about going into the weapons room...no! If I was to die there trying to save the ship then so be it, that's my destiny. Am I skiddish about sending you off with me to do something that I could have done alone because I am attracted to you and want you with me everywhere I go and afraid of one day totally losing you...absolutely. "
Suddenly realizing what I just said I quickly turn towards the window again.
"I'm sorry...guess the pilzner is hitting me harder than I realized."

She listens compassionately to him, not knowing this about him, she listened on, as she coiled up in her seat. Her face showing some sorrow, and som embarassment about his feelings for her. As he finishes she replies.
The thing about simulations is that we are suppose to learn from them. If you follow all procedures, and do your best, no one is to question your results. She grabs his hand, and gently holds it.
But you can't blame yourself for an accident Jon. You cared so much for her you tried to protect her, and such as life, you found out you can't. No one can. In the case of me, as I remember it, I volunteered. We were in a situation where the commander needed that torpedo yesterday. And if it wasn't for your thinking, I think we wouldn't be here talking about how good this pilsner taste. Worried about whether I died? I thought you were dead, and if that happened.....I don't think I would be able to fill in as your replacement.

My heart starts beating harder as I feel her hand in mine and hear the gentleness in her voice. I look deeply into her eyes and hold her hand tighter while at the same time my brain starts flooding with a thousand thoughts.
"I probably said some things to you I never should have. I just thought you should know. But I will tell you this... Do not underestimate yourself ever. You have surpassed my expectations of you along time ago. You are extremely smart, very adaptable, and very beautiful"
I reach over and kiss her slightly on the cheek
"For being 300" I wink at her and smile

She blushes as she is kissed, and smiles. She listens to his words, and is touched.
Well Jesmin said thank you....although I don't think he's your type. She snickers

She releases his hand, and grabs her Tankard. It's more then concern Jon, it's how I feel. She then chugs a some of her beer.

Smiling as I watch her chug her beer, I slowly walk over by her, pick up my tankard and finish drinking. As I come and sit next to her my comm beeps.
"Oh you've got to be kidding me."
"Excuse me a sec." I get back up and head over to my desk and hit my comm button at the same time rubbing my head as everything that has been said and memories of my Fiance still flood my head.
"This better be important" I Say into mid air
A familiar voice on the other end comes out "I don't mean to bug you, but you have a problem."
I look at Miria "I'll say.... Uhmm can't this wait til tomarrow?"
"No, it can't. Its about your plasma injectors."
I look straight at the comm unit on my desk. "Go on." Silence fills the comm speaker. "Avery, What?"
"They're gone. The ship that was carrying them to you was ambushed by the Tholians. They're destroyed."
I place a finger on my temple soaking in the news as Avery keeps talking... " There are no more replacement parts for your ship."
"Avery, this ship is to be ready for launch in 3 days. Without those injectors, she's not going to be. The rear admiral is going to have my head..."
Avery interrupts mad... "LISTEN, your ship is a derelict. It shouldn't even be in service anymore. THE parts JUST aren't there anymore. I've done all I can for you. I'M SORRY, BUT RIGHT NOW I HAVE TO FOCUS ON TRYING TO REFIT HALF THE DAMN STARSHIPS IN STARFLEET BECAUSE OF THIS DAMN WAR WITH THE THOLIANS! NOT TO MENTION THE ATTACKS FROM THE GORNS! I CAN'T JUMP FROM THEM BECAUSE MY LITTLE BROTHER NEEDS PARTS FOR A 50 YR OLD SHIP!"
Staring at my desk for a moment I finally say something "Thanks Avery. I'll talk to you later." I end the call and stare at my desk totally numb, thinking to myself for what seems like an eternity.. Taking a deep sigh, I hit the comm button again... "Jon to transporter room"
"Transporter room, Parkerson here" "Parkerson, status on the transporter?" A brief pause, "2 out of 4 pads are waiting for the buffer matrix to be installed. I have 1 still down and 1 almost workable. As soon as the plasma injectors and the warp core arrive..."
"Prepare to transport me to the starbase."
"Sir, I don't need to remind you that with the buffer matrix unaligned and no plasma being injected into it, the pattern stabalizer is fluxuating and that means anyone using the transporter may end up scattering their atoms across the place they materialize.
"Thanks Parkerson, Divert power from one of the two pads you have waiting for the buffer matrix into the one you do have workable. Then take a anti com unit, hook the matrix buffer to that and to the transporter pad that your diverting the power to. The anti comp will sustain the power to the matrix."
" I know sir, however it's going to manually take 1 other person to adjust and compensate the power needed on the matrix stabalizer to maintain the stability on this contraption and Its just me here."
PARKERSON, JUST do it...I'll be down in 10 minutes...Reul out.
I hit the comm button and look at Miria "I need to go to see the admiral"

She looks up to him somewhat oblivious to what was going on and asked. What happened now? I thought the Warpcore would be here with no problems?

I get up from my desk and walk over to her.
"I'll explain everything on the way"
"The warp core is fine...that should actually be sitting in Engineering as we speak. One of the modifications I was going to make was the plasma flow from the plasma injectors to the EPS. However, with little shocker, the ships warp coils aren't in any shape to withstand the power of the plasma flow nor the EPS which is why we were having one of few warp drive problems. So to correct that, for the refit, when I put in a request for a new warp core, I also put in a request for 6 plasma injectors as well as a new EPS to boost the power for weapons. Well because of the age of the ship, the injectors, like every other part on this ship, has to be redesigned for the EPS to handle it...."
"With Avery's help we managed to get a hold of 6 plasma injectors and they were being brought to me here by a cargo ship. As you just heard the cargo ship was destroyed."
"Without those special injectors, the new EPS system won't be able to distribute the power properly so half the systems on the ship won't run and the warp drive again won't run at 100% but this time neither will the proper intermatrix formula which needs to be introduced into the plasma injectors. I had it worked out so that the Warp core and the plasma injectors were going to arrive almost simultaneously together so we could install it in a day. The EPS I already had from the previous part shipment which you saw."
We arrive at the transporter room and enter together. I walk immediately over to the station. Parkerson looks up at Miria and I, showing the concern on his face. I place my hand on his shoulder and push some buttons
"Relax, you have the power buffered perfectly all we need to do is monitor it so that it doesn't fluxuate."
I look at Miria
"Have you ever stabilized the power matrix from a pad through a anti com?"

She followed Jon tot the Transporter room, as she listened to his assessment. When she heard the question dhe grined.
2 Years ago Jemin did this procedure during a battle situation. I believe I can manage it.

Walking up the transporter, I turn around and stand on a pad looking at Miria and hold up my index finger to Miria
"Miria you have her until I return. Check out the Warp core, see if you can get that puppy in. Then go through the ship with a fine tuned tricorder...I want 150% efficiency readings on every power system, every grid, every relay, every station. THIS SHIP MUST be ready to launch!!!"
"I shouldn't be long.... oh and thanks for the company and the pilsner."
